Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi 9 or 10 October 1813 – 27 January 1901) was an Italian composer best known for his operas. He was born near Busseto to a provincial family of moderate means, receiving a musical education with the help of a local patron. Verdi came to dominate the Italian opera scene after the era of Gioachino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, and Vincenzo Bellini, whose works significantly influenced him.
Here we have a letter to the Composer Giuseppe Verdi Esq Palermo confirming receipt of £268.9.5 due to the London banking firm Jay Cooke McCulloch, the partner of Hugh McCulloch having been the US Secretary of the Treasury under three US Presidents, with Inland Revenue One Penny stamp and dated 1st of August 1871. The letter is framed and mounted in a fantastic double sided wood frame.
