Description

*M1909 Argentine Artillery 1909 short sword with matching scabbard made by Weyersberg Kirshbaum & Co. in Solingen.*

It's very rare to find military issue jungle short sword with matching numbered scabbard and a full Argentine crest on the blade. Used by the Argentine Elite Commando Force or Argentine Artillery.

This Argentinian sword was manufactured under contract in Germany. 37.5cm single-edged blade has a flat spine above a flat blade tapers to a spear point. The ricasso is stamped "Modelo Argentino 1909" arched over the Argentine coat of arms. The obverse ricasso is stamped with the makers mark "Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co, Solingen". The spine of the bayonet is stamped with an A below a star. Wood grips, affixed with two rivets, have no cracks. Pommel is marked with an RA in a circle denoting Republica Argentino. Above the cross piece is stamped the serial number FO4596. The scabbard has the matching serial number. The cross piece also has the proof marks P over a star and and on the other side Cx. The scabbard has proof mark Dx.

*Condition*
This short sword is in excellent condition with clear markings. There are a few minor nicks to the blade. The scabbard is also in good condition with minor tarnishing. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
