Description

*Ornate Yemeni Khanjar or Jambiya with Scabbard*

The Khanjar, also recognized as a Jambiya, is a traditional dagger with its origins in Oman. Over time, it has diffused to other regions including the Middle East, South Asia, and the Balkans. This distinctive dagger is typically worn by men during ceremonial events and is characterized by its short, curved blade, resembling the shape of the letter "J" and featuring a distinctive hook-like design. The Khanjar is represented on Oman's national emblem. While it is most commonly worn by men in Yemen as part of their daily attire, in Oman, it carries symbolic importance and is also worn by men in the United Arab Emirates, where it constitutes an integral component of their "traditional dress."

This is a Yemenite Jambiya knife made out of silver, brass, copper and horn displaying classic Yemen craftwork combined with filigree work. The handle made out of horn decorated with copper applications. Slightly curved 6" blade with writing on the blade.

*Condition*
This beautiful jambiya is in excellent condition. There is moderate wear and tear to the copper above the blade and a tiny split at the top of the ornate scabbard. This would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
