~ Pair Of 19th Century Pastoral Ceramic Figures ~
A lovely pair of circa 19th century pastoral ceramic figures.
The figures are of a man and a woman, dressed in period clothes with baskets on their backs. The baskets are open, most likely designed to hold matches.
They are both hand painted in blues and pinks with some gilt detailing and have flower decoration to the ladies dress and the mans breeches.
They sit on natural footed bases.
Both have a makers stamp; that of a cross and initial below a crown. The stamp looks similar to a Derby (Royal Crown Derby) mark.
They both have moulded stamp numbers of ‘2611’ and are both hand numbered with ‘55’.
~ Dimensions ~
The figures each stand at 23cm (9 inches).
Together they weigh 930g.
~ Condition ~
Both figures have a few small chips. The man to the thumb, hat and basket and the lady to the
hair, basket and base. Most of these chips are quite small and insignificant (see photos).
The figures are otherwise in a very nice condition and present well.
