~ Pair of Silver Plate & Blue Glass Cruet Sets c1914 ~
A lovely pair of silver plate cruet sets.
The cruet sets are of an unusual design with the cobalt blue glass salt and pepper containers mounted at angles in silver plated metals
‘stands’. Each stand rests on four feet.
Both are stamped ‘EPNS’ (electro plated nickel steel), ‘Made in England’ and with a makers mark of ‘JWB’ within a shield. They are also
marked with the registry design no. of ‘614061’ which should date them to 1913-14
~ Dimensions ~
The cruet sets each have a length of 9cm (3 ½ inches) and a height of 5.5cm (2 ¼ inches).
Together they weigh 160g.
~ Condition ~
Both pieces are in a nice condition. There is the odd tiny ding, but nothing significant.
Three of the blue glass containers can be removed from the base, one is stuck fast.
All lids are removable.
Both have a little tarnishing in parts, some of this can be remedied with careful cleaning. There is also a little discolouration which is
possibly where the silver plating is thinning.
Having said this both pieces still present very well.
