~ Palitoys Talking Sabbotage Action Man Circa 1968 ~
In 1968, Palitoy released a new version of the basic Action Man figure. This was a Talking Commander figure. He is wearing brown boots, tunic and trousers, wool cap and red binoculars.
In all, he said eight commands which emanated from a tiny record player situated in a cavity in his torso. Nineteen holes were drilled into his chest to let the sound escape. These sounds were activated by pulling on the dog chains that appeared to be hanging from his neck. The eight phrases, or commands, that he spoke were:
– This is your commander speaking
– Action Man patrol, fall in!
– Enemy Aircraft! Action Stations!
– Enemy in sight, range 1000
– Volunteer needed for a special mission
– Mortar attack, dig in
– Hold your fire until I give the order
– Commander to base, request support fire
He comes with a number of extras…
– A flair gun & 3 flairs
– A denonator box
– A signalling lamp
– A M3 grease sub-machine gun
– Three grenades
– Radio Communicator
– Gas Mask & respirator
– A inflatable raft with one oar and anchor
The back of the doll has the Palitoy impressing and has brown painted hair.
~ Dimensions ~
The doll is 11 inches (28cm) tall and 4 inches (10.25cm) wide.
~ Condition ~
The voice command is in working order, which is often very rare for a doll this age, but slurred. The plastic appears in a good overall condition though the face is slightly dirty. The accessories are in an overall good condition.
