The piece is modelled on the head of the Chinese monk ‘Budai’ or ‘Laughing Buddah’ as he is more commonly referred to.
It is of a translucent grey/green nephrite jade and features a belt clasp to reverse.
It dates from the Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or earlier.
