This is a barometer from the German Kriegsmarine. It features the reichsadler above the M (Marine) and is complete with its accompanying book. Interestingly, this barometer has no visible maker’s mark. The aneroid barometer is an instrument used for measuring air pressure without the involvement of liquid. Invented in 1844 by French scientist Lucien Vidi, the aneroid barometer uses a small, flexible metal box called an aneroid cell (capsule).
