Description

A lead cutter is a type of broad, heavy, English sword or cutlass. Popular in the 19th century, these weapons resemble enlarged naval cutlasses, consisting of single-edged, flat-backed blades with broad widths. The purpose of these heavy cutlasses was for strength training by dissevering whole sheep's carcasses or balanced lead bars in a single blow. This particular lead cutter appears to be a model 2 due to its 31 inch blade length and was made by Mole.

*Condition*

This cutlass is in very good condition with patches of light pitting on the blade. The hilt is more heavily pitted but remains strong with no damage. Please see pictures for more detail.
