*Russian/Soviet, WW2-1944, TT-33 Tokarev 7.62×25mm Semi-Automatic Pistol, Izhevsk Arsenal, Serial No. ШИ4895, Matching Frame & Slide, EU/UK Deactivated*

An original Second World War Soviet TT-33 Tokarev semi-automatic service pistol manufactured at the Izhevsk Arsenal in 1944, chambered for the powerful 7.62×25mm Tokarev cartridge.

The left side of the frame is correctly stamped with the serial number ШИ4895, together with the distinctive Izhevsk triangle-and-arrow arsenal emblem and the production date 1944. The top of the slide repeats the same serial number, arsenal mark and year, confirming matching frame and slide serial numbers. The slide exhibits the coarse machining, simplified finish and broad rear cocking serrations characteristic of late-war Izhevsk production, reflecting the Soviet emphasis on speed and efficiency during the final years of the Great Patriotic War.

The pistol retains its original black ribbed Bakelite-style grip panels incorporating the correct simplified plain five-pointed star roundels, a feature typical of mid-to-late wartime Soviet production. The original military lanyard loop remains fitted to the butt, and numerous Soviet factory inspection and sub-inspection marks remain visible throughout, including the "02" inspection stamp on the slide stop together with additional inspection marks around the trigger guard and frame. The accompanying original Soviet magazine is numbered 5312, representing a typical wartime service replacement rather than the original matching magazine.

Approx. Measurements: Barrel Length: approx. 10 cm (4 inches). Calibre: 7.62×25mm Tokarev

History Note:
Designed by Fedor Tokarev, the TT-33 became the standard service pistol of the Soviet Red Army throughout the Second World War, replacing the earlier TT-30 while retaining its proven Browning-inspired operating system. Chambered for the high-velocity 7.62×25mm Tokarev cartridge, it earned a reputation for reliability, simplicity and excellent penetration, serving with officers, tank crews, reconnaissance units, artillerymen and specialist troops across every theatre of the Eastern Front.

This example was manufactured at the Izhevsk Arsenal during 1944, one of the Soviet Union's principal wartime small-arms factories. By this stage of the war, production had become increasingly streamlined, with machining prioritising function and output over cosmetic finish. The simplified plain-star grip panels, coarse machining and utilitarian finish seen on this pistol are entirely consistent with authentic late-war Izhevsk manufacture. Wartime Izhevsk TT-33 pistols retaining matching frame and slide serial numbers remain increasingly sought after, particularly when they survive in honest military condition without evidence of heavy post-war refurbishment.

*Condition*
Presented in good original wartime condition with an honest military patina throughout. The metalwork displays expected service wear, scattered freckling, areas of finish thinning and visible wartime machining marks consistent with military use and long-term storage. The matching serial number ШИ4895, Izhevsk arsenal stamp and 1944 production date remain crisp and clearly legible on both the frame and slide.

The original black ribbed Bakelite-style grip panels remain structurally sound with excellent definition to the plain five-pointed star roundels and show moderate handling wear commensurate with age. Numerous Soviet inspection and sub-inspection marks remain visible throughout the frame and controls, including the stamped "02" inspection mark on the slide stop. The accompanying original Soviet magazine bears the non-matching serial number 5312, entirely consistent with wartime military service replacement.

Deactivation Certificate Details:
Deactivated to current EU/UK specification with an accompanying Birmingham Gun Barrel Proof House certificate (Certificate No. 186209), certified on 21 November 2024. The certificate records the firearm as a Tokarev TT-33 Automatic Pistol in 7.62mm calibre, serial number 4895, with a 4-inch barrel. The pistol bears the appropriate modern Birmingham deactivation inspection marks in accordance with current legislation. The slide can be retracted and the trigger moves freely, but the pistol does not cock or dry-fire.
