~ Silver Blankney Hunt Presentation Capstan Ink Well Sheffield 1915 ~
A lovely silver ink well inscribed ‘Blankney Hunt’ dating to 1915.
The inkwell has a wide circular form tapering up to a lipped edge well with a hinged lid to the top.
It has a weighted wood base.
The well is inscribed to the lid ‘Blankney Hunt 1916, 1st Prize, Presented By The Committee To “Demon”, Walked By W.T.B. Brown, Haddington’.
Blankney Hunt is an English foxhound pack, based in the village of Blankney, Lincolnshire and ‘Demon’ was presumably a prized dog.
The piece is hallmarked to the inside of the lid and to the base for silver, Sheffield, 1915 and has a makers mark of ‘W&H’ for Walker & Hall.
~ Dimensions ~
The piece has a diameter of 15cm (6 inches) and a height of 6cm (2 ½ inches).
It weighs 330g.
~ Condition ~
The lid is slightly bent so does not sit quite flat. The base has a few light scratches and a few small dents to the base edge.
Overall the piece is in a nice condition with only general light age wear.
It does not have a glass liner.
