A scarce Spanish Model 1871 socket bayonet, designed for use with the Remington rolling-block rifle adopted by Spain in the late 19th century. This example features a long triangular-section spike blade, measuring approximately 61.3 cm overall, forged in one piece without a brazed collar or shoulder joint — a distinctive feature of this pattern.

The socket includes its original high-mounted locking ring, a characteristic detail unique to this Spanish design and differentiating it from contemporary British and French socket bayonets. Originally introduced around 1871, these bayonets served both in Spain and in colonial campaigns, and many saw hard use. Surviving examples today are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially in complete condition.

This bayonet would make an excellent addition to any advanced bayonet or European military collection, particularly for those focused on Remington rolling-block rifles or 19th-century socket bayonet developments.

In good original condition, showing an even, dark age patina across the blade and socket. The blade remains straight with no cracks or major deformations, and shows scattered surface pitting consistent with age and service use. The socket is complete and structurally sound, retaining its original high-mounted locking ring, which moves freely and functions properly. No visible arsenal or inspection marks remain, which is common for these Spanish examples. No scabbard. Overall, an honest and solid example of this scarce pattern, presenting very well.
