A sterling silver pair-cased pocket watch dated for 1875.
With pair-cased watches such as this, an inner case holds the watch movement, while an additional outer case encloses and protects the inner case.
Both are hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham, 1875.
The inner case also has a makers stamp of ‘JK’ (Jeremiah Kirk, watch case maker, The Butts, Coventry) and a serial no. of ‘27457’.
The watch has a thick, domed crystal, a white dial with black Roman numerals, an outer minutes ring and two hands. It has a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position.
The dial reads ‘Improved Patent’.
The watch has a key wind movement.
The watch comes with a silver swivel clasp, currently with winding key attached.

There is a little dent to the outer case but otherwise the watch has only light surface wear commensurate with age and use.
