~ Three Draw Dollond of London Telescope No. 1986 ~
A nice quality early 20th century 3 draw leather bound field telescope by Dollond of London.
The telescope is of brass with the tapered main barrel covered in stitched brown leather.
The telescope is fitted with a sliding sunshade to the objective lens end and the eyepiece features a moveable yellow filter.
The telescope is marked ‘Dollond London No. 1986’ on the first draw near the eyepiece.
The telescope comes with two protective leather end caps plus a shoulder carry strap.
~ Dimensions ~
The telescope measures 26.5cm (10 ½ inches) when closed and 80cm (31 ½ inches) when fully drawn with sunshade extended.
The objective lens has a diameter of 5cm (2 inches).
The item weighs 1.26 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The telescope is fully functional with clean undamaged lenses which deliver a clear, well focused image.
There is a slightly corroded mark on the tube near the objective but the rest of the brass is in good order with no dents or damage.
One draw is a little stiff and one is slightly loose but they are all in working order.
The leather on the telescope and caps is in good order with only some scratches and scuffing from age and use.
The leather strap which joins the end caps has split and the carry strap is also split and in quite poor order.
