~ Three Framed White Star Line Menus from S.S. Megantic 1921 ~
Here we have three wonderfully preserved menus from the S.S Megantic dating to 23rd July 1921. These include Breakfast, Luncheon and Dinner, with such wonderful treats as ‘Cold Stewed Prunes, Giblet Soup and Lamb’s Tongue.
Each menu has the White Star Liner Logo of a red flag with a white star, the name of the liner ‘S.S. Megantic’ and each has the same date.
The menus are mounted in a modern white frame.
~ Dimensions ~
Each menu measures approximately 4 inches (10cm) by 6 inches (15cm).
The frame measures 18 inches (46cm) by 10 ¼ inches (26cm) by 1 inch (2.5cm). It weighs 1.150Kg.
~ Condition ~
The menus are in great condition with just a little foxing mainly just on the ‘Dinner’ menu. The frame is new(ish) and in good order.
~ S.S. Megantic ~
S.S. Megantic was an ocean liner built by Harland & Wolff, Belfast, and operated by the White Star Line. The liner was launched in 1908. The ship was attacked by a German U-boat during World War I, but survived. Megantic was taken out of service in 1931 and scrapped in 1933.
