~ United States 3rd Artillery Officer's Dress Helmet ~
Of black felt, it has a single panel skull with rounded peak, front visor and a rear brim with leather edging. The gilt oak leaf crown mount is fitted with a plume holder for the red horsehair plume. It has brass, artillery side mounts as well as brass shield mounts securing the red cord double swag and hanging cord. The brass eagle, artillery pattern badge has a central, white metal numeral 3. Inside is a leather sweatband.

Please refer to the images for condition. There is slight wear to the rim and one of the reverse lugs to the badge is missing.

The helmet is 30 cm (12 inches) tall.
