The Spitfire Carbine, developed in the 1960s, is an American semi-automatic carbine chambered in .45 ACP and designed to resemble the iconic Thompson Submachine Gun, earning it the nickname "Poor Man's Thompson." Originally manufactured in Phoenix, Arizona, it featured a 16-inch barrel, though some models were later modified with shorter barrels and legally converted to full-automatic fire.

Operating as an open-bolt semi-automatic weapon, the Spitfire's design closely mirrored the M3A1 "Grease Gun," including magazine compatibility. Its appearance, however, was styled after the Thompson, with blade front and peep rear sights, alloy pistol grips, and a fixed wooden stock. The ATF later determined it to be readily convertible to full-automatic fire, retroactively classifying it as a machine gun. This led to most units being destroyed by their owners, though a limited number were registered under the National Firearms Act (NFA).

*Condition*
Good, used condition with expected loss of paint and knock as and bumps commensurate with service. Deactivated, cocks and dry-fires, bolt is retracted using a finger to draw the bolt rearward until it locks. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
