~ Victorian Three Piece Silver Single Service Tea Set Hallmarked 1892 Sheffield ~
A charming Victorian silver tea set comprising of a teapot with an ebony angular scroll handle, a hinged domed cover with embossed fluted decoration & ebony finial and a matching sugar & cream jug.
The pieces are hallmarked for Sheffield 1892, the makers are James Deakin & Sons.
This is a small set suitable for a single person.
~ Dimensions ~
The teapot has a height of 5 inches (12.7 cm), a length of 7.5 inches (19 cm) and a width of 3.5 inches (8/9 cm). It weighs 260 g.
The sugar jug has a height of 3 inches (7.6 cm), a length of 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) and a width of 2 inches (5.1 cm). It weighs 80 g.
The cream jug has a height of 2.5 inches (6.4 cm), a length of 4 inches (10.2 cm) and a width of 1.7 inches (4.3 cm). It weighs 55 g.
Together, the set weighs 395 g.
~ Condition ~
The set is in very good order for its age. All pieces have minor surface wear from prior polishing and usage though this is light with the hallmarks still clear. The sugar bowl is otherwise fine. The milk jug has a very slight compression to its lower rim. The teapot has a couple of pinprick dents to the upper band, its spouts lip is very slightly knocked.
