~ WW1 Medal Pair Awarded To 44919 Pte G.H. Mackay – Rifle Brigade ~
A First World War medal pair awarded to Private G.H. Mackay of the Rifle brigade.
The pair consists of: The British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
Both medals are engraved to the edge ‘44919 PTE. G.H. MACKAY. RIF. BRIG.’.
~ Dimensions ~
The medals are of the standard size.
Together they weigh 65g.
~ Condition ~
The victory medal has some light surface wear and the war medal has a dark patina from not being polished but otherwise both are in good condition
with no damage.
The Victory medal ribbon is quite possibly original as it has some age (but not wear) to it but the war medal ribbon is a modern replacement.
~ British War Medal ~
The British War Medal was a campaign medal of the United Kingdom which was awarded to officers and men of British and Imperial forces for service
in the First World War.
~ Victory Medal ~
The Victory Medal (also called the Inter-Allied Victory Medal) was a United Kingdom and British Empire First World War campaign medal.
The medal was issued to all those who received the 1914 Star or the 1914–15 Star, and to most of those who were awarded the British War Medal – it
was not awarded singly.
