~ WW2 Air Ministry Scramble Bell ~
A second World War RAF Air Ministry scramble bell.
Bells of this type were used during the Second World War on air fields to rally fighter pilots to the air in scrambles to meet the incoming enemy raiders.
The bell is of cast iron with a high polished silver finish to the body. The crown has a brassy tone and bears remnants of red paint.
The bell is plain but for a stamp to the upper edge by the crown top reading ‘AM 21 C/1434’.
The inside of the bell bears a large incised broad arrow mark and again there are more remnants of old paint.

The bell has a diameter of 27cm (10 ½ inches) and a height of 28cm (11 inches).
It weighs 14.25 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The bell is in a nice condition. There are some dings as to be expected but there are no damages to speak of.
