Established in 1893 in Saint-Imier by Fritz Moeri and Julius Frederic Jeanneret, the Moeris Watch Factory gained recognition in 1904 when Moeri patented a movement, the caliber 19′ named “Non-magnetic.” This design received a special award at the 1906 Universal Exhibition in Milan. By 1925, the company produced variations of the caliber 19′, making solid movements that attracted a significant customer, the British War Office, at the onset of World War II. Producing over 10 million watches by 1957, Moeris was known for upscale watches with 17 or 25 jewels and Incabloc shock protection.
In 1974, Moeris joined Rayville, alongside Blancpain, shifting focus to historic replica pocket watches. However, by 1978, Moeris closed its doors. In 1980, Tissot took ownership of Moeris, and Tissot itself became part of Swatch in 1983.
