This well preserved Luftwaffe helmet was made in the Saxon Emaillewerke factory in the small town of Lauter. It has the size and makers mark of SE68 (an unusually large size) and the batch No of 4720 which dates its production to 1939-40.
It still has its original liner and buckle but the chin strap has become detached and is lost. In parade finish Blue/Green it retains a lot of its glossy finish.
~ Condition ~
In the original paint, this helmet shows speckles of pitting which are expected but not too detrimental to this very nice example. The national tricolour has minor dotting but is mostly complete and the Luftwaffe decal has been chipped in places but is 85% complete. The liner has lost a tongue and there are signs of wear to the brim. The chin strap is missing but the original buckle is still in place. Please look at the pictures as these form part of our condition report.
