~ Circa 1760 Powder Horn Depicting New York And A Map Of The Hudson River ~
The fine powder horn, a British piece, is etched with the British Royal coat of arms. It also depicts the settlement of New York, a map of the Hudson river and a beaver.
‘VII’ is engraved on the mouths end.
The owners details are given in a cartouche “Wm (William) Gill His Horn Pass On”.
It comes with its stopper.

The horn is in good order, structurally sound and with just one short split by the mouth.

The powder horn is 37 cm (14.5 inches) in total length with a maximum diameter of 7 cm (2.75 inches).
