This is a replica of an antique brass Gatling gun cannon, modeled after the 1883 version and crafted in Spain. This vintage reproduction is truly stunning. It measures approx: 8 1/2 inches in length, 3 1/2 inches in width, and 5 1/2 inches in height. The solid brass Gatling gun cannon is fully functional, with all its moving parts, and it can rotate and be adjusted. It’s mounted on a sturdy wooden base that bears an inscription plaque reading “Hartford, Conn.” The cannon stands at 8 inches tall and features a knob resembling a faucet handle that lets you control the gun’s angle. Additionally, it includes a crank handle that you can turn to rotate the exit holes at the end of the cannon. Notably, this particular item is not currently featured in Denix’s catalog.
This Gatling gun represents a significant milestone in the evolution of weaponry, foreshadowing the changes in warfare that would unfold in the 20th century. Dr. Richard Gatling’s invention had a profound impact on history, having been used in conflicts like the Civil War, Spanish American War, Zulu War, and Indian Wars. The original Gatling gun, introduced in 1883, had the remarkable capability of firing up to 800 rounds per minute!
