~ Pair Of HMS Centurion Silver Photo Frames London 1904 ~
A lovely pair of silver photo frames marked for HMS Centurion and Lieutenant C. H. Sinclair, dated 1904.
Frames such as this would have been gifts sent from sailors to their loved ones whilst in service aboard ship.
The frames are of sterling silver with wooden hinged ‘easel’ style backings.
Both frames are engraved ‘H.M.S. Centurion’ to the upper edge and ‘From Liet. C.H. Sinclair, 1904’ to the lower edge.
The frames are both hallmarked for London Silver, 1904 and have the makers mark of ‘Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Ltd’ of Regent
Street, London.
Each frame contains an image of a young sailor (two different young men).
~ Dimensions ~
The frames measure 10cm (4 inches) by 14.5cm (5 ¾ inches).
Together they weigh 520g.
~ Condition ~
Both of the frames have a little damage to the wood backing and hinges (which are both held in place with some plastic wire), this
causes one of the frames to sit at a lower angle.
Otherwise both pieces are in a nice condition with only light wear to both the wood and silver but no other damage.
