~ Victorian Chinese Lacquer Box ~
A nice Victorian Chinese lacquer box dating to around the 1880’s.
It is rectangular in shape, made of hardened paper mache with a removable lid.
The box is covered in a gold lacquer with hand painted delicate blue flowers and three pairs of colourful birds to the lid.
The inside of the box is painted in black lacquer.
~ Dimensions ~
The box measures 10.3cm (4 inches) by 18cm (7 inches) with a depth of 3.7cm (1 ½ inches).
It weighs 195g.
~ Condition ~
There are a couple of small chips to the lacquer at the edges and tiny amount of wear to the central pair of birds but the main decoration is in very good order. The box is otherwise in a good condition with no cracks or signs of repair.
