~ Commanding Officers Model Of HMS Apollo ~
A very fine model of the Leander class frigate HMS Apollo (Comm. 1972).
The model was made by an ex-Rating who served on the ship. He started building the model while on board, from when the ship was commissioned in 1972, and it took him two years to complete. It is scratch built, using the layered wood principal.
When finished, he presented it to the Commanding Officer of the ship. It was displayed for a while in the Dockyard’s Naval Museum, and was returned to him when the ship was de-commissioned and sold in 1988.
This is a very fine example of a handmade model ship and a one of a kind with a wonderful background.
A delightful piece for any collector.
~ Dimensions ~
The ship in its case weighs 25Kg.
The case is 48 inches (122 cm) by 20 inches (51 cm) by 10 inches (25.5).
~ Condition ~
The ship is in excellent condition, a testament to the care and attention put into making and maintaining this model.
