~ Ornate Antique c1820 LeRoy & Fills Gold Open Face Pocket Watch ~
This is a simply beautiful antique pocket watch and in fine condition for a watch dating back over 195 years.
The watch has a gorgeous solid 18ct approx. gold foliate embossed case, frosted gold metal dial with central floral decoration, Breguet style gold hands, Roman numerals & gold dot minute divisions.
The inner gold cuvette cover is stamped “N15661 Leroy & Fils, HGERS Du Roi A Paris, Aguilles” which is the serial number followed by the manufacturers name, then the French for “Watchmakers to the King in Paris”.
The key wind, key set gilt movement has a jewelled cylinder escapement.
The watch comes with a stunning gold, gilt brass and enamel crucifix fashioned winding key.

This French maker, Charles LeRoy & Fils, horologers of 114 Et 115, Palais Royal, Paris, are recorded as working in the period from approximately 1788 through to 1825. The firm had royal patronage to the Emperor Napoleon, the King of Westphalia, Princesss Pauline and the Duc of Bourbon. The firm went through various minor name changes in this period, but the quality remained remarkably high, as did the price of the watches.
