Sir Richard Grenville (1542-1591) was an English sailor who, as captain of Revenge, died at the Battle of Flores during the Anglo-Spanish War of 1585–1604.
The jug is in the form of Sir Richard Grenville with a broken mast for the handle.
The jug is stamped to the base (see images).
