~ 1950s Cased Scratch Built Ships Model Of RMS Queen Mary ~
A nice quality hand-built waterline model of the ocean liner ‘RMS Queen Mary’.
The model is mounted to a base-board and sits under a plexiglass case.
~ RMS Queen Mary ~
The RMS Queen Mary, launched in 1934 sailed for the Cunard-White Star Line primarily on the North Atlantic Ocean from 1936 to 1967.
With the outbreak of World War II, she was converted into a troopship and ferried Allied soldiers during the conflict.
After the war she was refitted for passenger service and remained that way until her retirement in 1967.
Since then she has been moored in California, USA serving as a tourist attraction.
~ Dimensions ~
The case measures 121cm (47 ½ inches) by 16cm (6 ¼ inches).
It weighs 5.8 Kg
~ Condition ~
There is a reasonable amount of damage to the rigging and there are a couple of minor damages to parts of the deck (a small area of railing and one lifeboat is no longer attached).
The model is otherwise in a very nice condition.
The base board has a couple of holes.
The plexiglass case appears not to be original to the model and the baseboard is possibly a replacement.
