~ Century 21 Toys Gerry Anderson Battery Operated ‘Project Sword’ Booster Rocket ~
Back in the 1960’s ‘Century 21’ released a series of battery operated toys based on Gerry Anderson stories/TV shows including those of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlett. Alongside these was a series of toys from ‘Project Sword, another of Gerry Andersons creations which was only ever a weekly story in SOLO comic and sadly never became a television series.
Now known as ‘The series that never was’, the plotline revolved around a group known as ‘The Space World Organisation for Research and Development’, or ‘Project SWORD’ who’s mission it was, was to save the world from disaster after the Earth had been struck by a giant meteorite which burrowed into the earth’s core causing all sorts of volcanic mayhem while sinking large parts of the world below the waves in the year 3031.
This battery operated Booster Rocket toy comes with all its original features.
We do not know if it is in working order as the toy takes a now obsolete type of battery, though the ‘Ejectable Nose Module’ still works as this is a push-button feature.
The toy comes in its original picture card box.
~ Dimensions ~
The rocket has a length when fully constructed of 46cm (18 inches)
The box measures 11cm (4 ¼ inches) by 16cm (10 inches) with a depth of 10cm (4 inches).
~ Condition ~
The stickers are starting to peel at the edges and there are a couple of little chips to the red section of the tail.
The toy is otherwise in very good condition.
The box has one small tear/hole to the front but is otherwise in very good condition with only very light wear.
The toy would have originally come with a badge and instruction booklet but as is so often the case these items are now missing.
