Description

~ Post-War 1954 Dated Mosin Nagant Carbine and Folding Bayonet ~

The carbine is serial numbered GR745 and comes with its certificate dated 13 Jul 2017.

The post-war 1954-dated Mosin-Nagant carbine refers to a variation of the Mosin-Nagant rifle that was produced in the Soviet Union in the early 1950s, during the post-World War II era. This variation is often referred to as the M44, and it is notable for its shorter length and other design changes. Here are some key details about the 1954-dated Mosin-Nagant M44 carbine:

Design and Development:
The M44 is a shorter and more compact version of the Mosin-Nagant rifle. It was developed during World War II to provide Soviet infantry with a shorter and more maneuverable firearm for close-quarters combat. After the war, production continued in various Soviet and Eastern European arsenals, including in 1954, to support military and police forces.

Caliber and Ammunition:
The Mosin-Nagant M44 carbine typically chambered the same 7.62x54mmR cartridge as the earlier Mosin-Nagant rifles. This cartridge was powerful and effective for a variety of purposes, and it remained in use for a long time.

Barrel Length:
The M44 featured a shorter barrel compared to the standard Mosin-Nagant rifles, making it more compact and suitable for urban combat and other situations where a shorter firearm was advantageous.

Folding Bayonet:
One of the distinctive features of the M44 is the folding bayonet attached to the barrel. This bayonet could be folded out for use or folded back against the barrel when not in use. It was a practical addition for military purposes.

Use After World War II:
The M44 carbine continued to be used by the Soviet military and various Eastern Bloc countries after World War II. It saw service in conflicts such as the Korean War and the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. The M44 was also used by Soviet and other Warsaw Pact nations' police forces and paramilitary organizations.

Civilian Ownership:
In the years following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, surplus M44 carbines, along with other Mosin-Nagant variations, became available on the civilian firearms market. These rifles are collected and enjoyed by firearms enthusiasts and historical firearm collectors.

The 1954-dated Mosin-Nagant M44 carbine, like other Mosin-Nagant rifles, has an interesting history and is appreciated for its historical significance and robust design. Many enthusiasts and collectors continue to appreciate and use these rifles today.
