*WW2 era, USA, Telephonics Corporation. NY, Headset with Amplivox ears*
This WW2 era headset is a great piece of history. Early Telephonics Corporation frame fitted with early Amplivox ears. They carry a slightly obscured serial or stores number “?1/993” Both the ears and the removable cups bear the Amplivox name and the headframe has the Telephonics Corporation NY Logo scripted logo.
Founded in 1933 the Telephonics Corporation, NY, evolved from a small company devoted exclusively to supplying audio headsets to a leading provider of surveillance, communications, analysis and integration solutions to aerospace, defense and commercial industries.
Founded in 1935 Amplivox introduced the first wearable hearing aid. In 1940, at the request of the Ministry of Defence, Amplivox developed the first ever ear defenders to prevent deafness from the noise levels arising from modern warfare. Amplivox developed a wide range of military equipment including microphones, earphones, and headsets for aircrafts and tanks – becoming almost exclusive suppliers to NATO forces.

These headsets are an interesting historical find. They are in need of repair with cable needing repair. the frame is rusted in places and the set generally shows sign of wear and tear. Please refer to the photographs as part of the condition report.
