Description

*German, WW2, Old paper transcript of Hitler and Goerings' Radio Broadcasts of July 21st 1944*

On July 21 at about 1.00 A.M. Hitler made a night radio broadcast in response to the assassination attempt the preceding day,  this is a partial transcript. Radio broadcasts were a critical propaganda tool for Hitler. For the speaker, as well as the audience, Nazi radio speeches were extensions of the political rallies out of which the movement had been born. Not all speeches were recorded and not all of those that were have survived. In the rapid advance of the allies there was little time to worry about the preservation of Nazi phonograph records. Furthermore, Allied military authorities, as well as individual soldiers, had sharply different ideas about what should be done with the recordings they found. Some left them where they were, some seized them as captured documents, and others, presumably, destroyed them. Transcripts of these recordings are therefore an incredibly important part of the preservation and reconstruction of significant events in history.

"FROM HITLER'S SPEECH
July 21, 1944
A very small clique of ambitious, irresponsible, and at the same time senseless and criminally stupid officers have formed a plot to eliminate me and with me, the German Wehrmacht command.

FROM THE GOERING SPEECH
July 21, 1944
An unimaginably mean murder was carried out today in front of Or Graf Stauffenberg on behalf of a pathetic clique..."

The 20 July 1944 plot, was an unsuccessful effort to assassinate Adolf Hitler and overthrow the Nazi regime. The conspirators were members of the German resistance, primarily comprising Wehrmacht officers. Claus von Stauffenberg, the plot's leader, intended to kill Hitler with a bomb concealed in a briefcase. However, the blast, which occurred in a different location, only caused minor injuries to Hitler. The subsequent coup endeavor by the conspirators failed, led to a purge of the Wehrmacht.

*Condition*
This appears to be an old paper copy of the speeches that has at some point been in a fire. A remarkable piece of history that has survived despite events. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
