A 1949 pattern, 1953 dated British Army Battle Dress Blouse. This pattern of jacket was introduced after the end of the Second World War and stayed in issue until the 1960s. Due to its long service life it is now ubiquitous with the British Army in the Cold War period. Like its WW2 counterpart, the jacket is made from khaki coloured wool serge and features green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons throughout. Fitted with cloth shoulder titles for the Royal Artillery, and shoulder pips for the rank of Lieutenant (only one of four pips is present but the stitching suggests that this was worn by a Lieutenant) and a divisional patch depicting a gold centaur on a blue background for 7th Army Group Royal Artillery (AGRA) Silk Embroidered Formation Sign. Inside the jacket the original label is still present and states the maker as Cohen & Co.
The War Department acceptance stamp can be found adjacent to the makers label which is surmounted by the letter ‘M’ which denotes the year of issue.
