*Belgian, Interwar, 1920s–1930s, M1924 Mauser Export Sword Bayonet*
A well-preserved example of the Belgian Model 1924 Mauser export sword bayonet, designed for use with the FN M1924 and M1930 short rifles. Produced by Fabrique Nationale (FN) in Belgium, these bayonets were widely exported between the 1920s and 1930s to South America, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Unlike later, shorter knife bayonets, this model retains a long, fullered blade intended for traditional extended infantry reach.
This example measures approximately 51.2 cm overall, with a 38.2 cm blade featuring a deep single fuller and a bright (white) polished finish, consistent with pre-war production. In contrast, bayonets made for export between 1945 and the 1950s generally had blued blades to reduce field glare and simplify maintenance. The wooden grips are secured by two screw bolts, and the flat bird’s-head pommel is stamped with serial number "19327." The original press-stud release mechanism remains functional, allowing secure rifle mounting.
*Condition*
The blade shows general age-related patination but retains its original profile without major nicks or edge damage. The wooden grips are solid and display service wear consistent with use. The crossguard and pommel show finish loss and honest handling marks. The press button functions properly. No scabbard is included.
Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
A scarce and attractive pre-war export-pattern bayonet in very good condition, ideal for collectors of Mauser bayonets and interwar military arms.
