~ WW2 German Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery Badge ~
The WW2 German Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery Badge (Küstenartillerie-Abzeichen der Kriegsmarine) was instituted on 1 June 1941 to recognise the service of sailors and personnel assigned to coastal artillery units defending German-held shores. It rewarded skill, diligence, and combat readiness in manning heavy guns that protected ports, naval bases, and coastal installations from enemy attack.
The badge’s design features a coastal artillery gun positioned on a pedestal, superimposed over an oak leaf wreath, with a swastika at the base. It was worn on the left breast pocket of the uniform. Awarded both for active service in combat and for proficient operational duty, it symbolised the strategic importance of Germany’s coastal defences during the war.
