*German, WW2, Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet Badge, Friedrich Orth, Gilt & Silvered*
An original German Second World War Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet Badge (Flottenkriegsabzeichen), produced by the well-known wartime manufacturer Friedrich Orth. The badge features the correct oval oakleaf wreath with gilt finish, surmounted by the Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a swastika, enclosing a forward-steaming capital ship rendered in silvered relief.
This example displays strong, well-defined detail throughout, with crisp ship superstructure, portholes and bow lines, and a sharply modelled eagle with good feather definition. The wreath retains a pleasing amount of original gilt, with natural wear to the high points consistent with genuine wartime use.

Historical Note:
The High Seas Fleet Badge was instituted on 30 April 1941 by Grand Admiral Erich Raeder and awarded to officers and men of the German Kriegsmarine serving aboard major surface warships. Qualification was typically based on a minimum period of operational service, or participation in significant naval actions. The badge symbolised service with Germany’s capital ships and heavy surface fleet and remains one of the most recognisable Kriegsmarine awards of the Second World War.

*Condition*
Very good overall condition. The front retains good original gilding to the wreath, with expected wear to raised areas. The central ship shows honest service wear but remains sharp and well defined. The reverse displays typical surface wear and toning from age, with no damage or repairs noted. The original round wire pin, barrel hinge, and soldered catch are intact, secure, and fully functional.
