~ Circa 1920 Original Pastel Nude Lady By Édouard Vuillard (1868 – 1940) ~
This is a signed nude of a lady in a reclined pose by the renowned artist Édouard Vuillard. Her bobbed haircut would indicate a date of around 1920.
The image is in reddish brown pastel on white paper.
She is signed by the artist in black pastel to the bottom left corner of the portrait.
The portrait is presented in its black and gilt glazed single mounted frame.
The frame bears a “H.E. Mealand, Carver & Gilder of Knightsbridge Green, London Established 1883” label to the reverse and would date to around 1920 as well.
It was acquired from a private source.

The pastel is 13 3/4 inches (35cm) wide by 17 3/4 (45cm) high. The frame is 21 inches (53.5cm) wide by 26 1/2 inches (67.5cm) high.
The framed pastel weighs 2.9Kg.
~ Condition ~
Overall the pastel is in great condition. There is some foxing to the paper and some light water staining to the lower eft of the mount. The frame itself is in good condition with some signs of wear.
