~ Pair Of Circa 1800 New Hall Porcelain Dishes ~
The two dishes are unmarked as expected but our porcelain consultant attributes them to the New Hall factory.
Both dishes have hand painted decoration in a similar way depicting two ladies of the era sitting in a garden, the one in the right offering a flower to the lady in the left. In the background can be seen a tower with a Chinese influence, part of a castle’s wall.
The colours used to create the scene are red, green, blue and yellow with subtle variations between the two pieces.
The margins of the dishes are decorated with cherry motifs.
They have a simple conical form.
~ Dimensions ~
The diameter of the plates is 5.5 inches (14 cm) and they are 1.1 inches (2.8 cm) tall.
The set weighs 205 grams.
~ Condition ~
The plates are in good condition for their age with clear colours and very little glaze loss.
One of the dishes has two hairline cracks as seen in the images in the 2 o’clock and 7 o’clock positions.
