~ Hand Built 1/64th Scale Model Of HMS Grasshopper Cruizer Class Brig Sloop ~
A wonderful 1:64 scale model of HMS Grasshopper, an 18 gun Cruizer-class brig-sloop of the Royal Navy, based presumably on the Caldercraft HMS Cruiser kit.
It is of plank on frame construction and has a copper covered lower hull.
The model is highly detailed and is complete with rigging and cannons but not with sails.
The model is displayed on a purpose built stand with a brass plaque reading ‘Grasshopper 1806’.
The estimated build time would have been around 800 hours and she was constructed in England.
Due to the size of the model it will have to be picked up in person from our Portsmouth shop in Hampshire, England.
~ Dimensions ~
The model has a length of 42 inches (107cm), a height, including stand of 34 inches (87cm) and a depth of 16 inches (40.5cm).
Including the stand, the piece weighs 2.75 Kg.
~ Condition ~
Overall the model is in very good condition with little wear. The top of the foremast has been neatly reattached.
~ HMS Grasshopper ~
HMS Grasshopper was launched in 1806, captured several vessels, and took part in two notable actions before the Dutch captured her in 1811. She then served The Netherlands navy until she was broken up in 1822.
