The “Mills Bomb” British hand grenade was the first modern fragmentation grenades used by the British Army in the First and Second World Wars. The hand grenade was designed by William Mills in Sunderland in 1915. This item bears the Mills patent on the bottom, along with 10/16 (October 1916) and MM Co. B’Ham.
