~ c1840 Staffordshire Jug ~
A nice example of Staffordshire pottery dating to circa 1840.
The jug has a typical white glaze with a stippled finish to the exterior.
There is relief decoration of flowers and bands of fleur-de-lis & diamonds with turquoise and gilt highlights around the circumference.
The underside is simply marked with the number ‘914’ in gold ink/paint.
~ Dimensions ~
The jug has a base diameter of 11.5cm (4 ½ inches) and a height of 18cm (7 inches).
It weighs 590g.
~ Condition ~
The jug is in a very nice condition with no damages and only some wear to the gilding in parts.
There are a couple of splits around the rim, but these are from the firing process so have always been there and are not damage.
