~ Sterling Silver A.W.W & Co. Waltham Pocket Watch c1898 ~
A nice quality, sterling silver open faced pocket watch by the American Waltham Watch Company dating to 1898.
The watch has a white enamel dial with black roman numerals and gold tone hands.
There is a seconds dial at the six o’clock position.
The dial is named ‘A.W.W.Co. Walthan Mass’.
The key wound movement is engraved ‘AM Watch Co, Waltham Mass’ and has a serial number of 8086676.
The case is marked in several places for sterling silver, Birmingham, 1898 with a makers stamp of ‘AB’.
A replacement key is provided with the watch.
~ Dimensions ~
The dial has a diameter of 4.3cm.
The case has a diameter of 5.5cm.
The watch weighs 155g.
~ Condition ~
There is some scratching to the outer edge of the case-back.
The case back is a little ‘sticky’ so a little effort is required to prise the case open, this probably explains the scratching, where a previous owner has used a tool to open the case.
The watch has general light wear commensurate with age but no damages.
The dial is clean and the crystal free from scratches.
The watch is in good working order.
