The tsuba, the guard for the sword, is cast with a lady helping a lion like creature in distress, to one side. To the other is a katana and open book, this side is signed.

The piece is in good order.

The tsuba is 8 cm (3.2 inches) long and 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) wide.
