A dagger is a knife with a very sharp point and usually two sharp edges, typically designed or capable of being used as a thrusting or stabbing weapon.
The armed forces of almost every country issue their officers and men with daggers that serve only a decorative roll in order to show off the status of that particular individual in the armed forces.
Whilst the officers tend to have elaborate patterns, the enlisted men and non commissioned officers will have a more posh version of their combat bayonet.
