~ 1959 Dated Original Poster of Che Guevara Brought Back From Cuba in 2015 ~
An excellent example of an original Che Guevara poster from the time of wining the revolution depicting him playing golf. The poster has been brought back alongside some souvenir banknotes by a British couple and framed recently.
He is 31 years old in the picture and at the time when the picture was taken he was about to become the President of the Central Bank of Cuba.
The picture was taken by Alberto Korda.
We don’t know exactly when the poster was printed (could be a 1990’s as a collector suggested on an ebay message) but we know that Korda sold 50 signed copies of the image later in 1961 and dated them at the moment of release. In any case, it is an interesting collection piece.
~ Ernesto Guevara’s activity in 1959 ~
In mid-January 1959, Guevara went to live at a summer villa in Tarará to recover from a violent asthma attack. While there he started the Tarara Group, a group that debated and formed the new plans for Cuba’s social, political, and economic development. In addition, Che began to write his book Guerrilla Warfare while resting at Tarara. In February, the revolutionary government proclaimed Guevara “a Cuban citizen by birth” in recognition of his role in the triumph. When Hilda Gadea arrived in Cuba in late January, Guevara told her that he was involved with another woman, and the two agreed on a divorce, which was finalized on 22 May.On 2 June 1959, he married Aleida March, a Cuban-born member of 26 July movement with whom he had been living since late 1958. Guevara returned to the seaside village of Tarara in June for his honeymoon with Aleida.
