Description

~ 1853 Pattern Cavalry Troopers Sword ~

The sword has a single fuller along two thirds of its length to both sides.

The 1853 Pattern British Cavalry Sword was introduced during the Crimean War and saw service at the Battle of Balaclava – most notably during The Charge of the Light Brigade where the Russian gunner’s great coats proved to withstand all but the sharpest of blades but fell to the thrusts of the British cavalrymen. This sword was also the first to be issued to both Light and Heavy Cavalry regiments.

~ Condition ~

The grip is firm and solid, there are numerous nicks to the blades edge. All the metal work has developed a deep patina. The tip is now rounded. There is no scabbard.

~ Dimensions ~

The sword is 102 cm (42 inches) long with a 87 cm (34.25 inches) blade.
