Description

~ A German Tinplate Floor Model Of A Side Wheel Gunboat c1880-1900 ~

The piece has twin funnels and a revolving forward gun. It has a lithographed white and blue hull with further gun details. It is fitted with a clockwork motor which runs smoothly and drives the paddle wheel. A single wheel at the front balances the piece which is set off centre to provide a rocking motion. We do not know the manufacturer – it is unmarked – but it would date to the late 19th century.

~ Dimensions ~

The boat is 2.75 inches (7cm) high by 8.5 inches (21.5cm) long by 2.4 inches (6cm) wide.

~ Condition ~

The piece has some surface wear. It is in good working order.
