~ Bayard 8 Day Brass Migonette Carriage Clock ~
A simple & elegant brass carriage clock by Bayard of France.
The company Bayard started life under the name Duverdrey & Bloquel in 1867 in St Nicholas D’Aliermont, northern France. During
the next decades, the company changed names from Duverdrey & Bloquel to Bayard and made many models of clocks including
traditional carriage clocks
In 1978 Bayard was taken over by Jaeger-Levallois from Switzerland.
Between 1982-83 they began reproducing some of the clocks that had originally been manufactured by the original Bayard company,
including a line of ‘mignonettes’ carriage clocks with mechanical movements of the same high quality as the originals.
This appears to be one of those high quality later reproductions.
The clock is of gilt brass with a swinging carriage handle to the top.
It features a white enamel dial with Roman numeral hour markers, a minutes ring and black steel hands.
The dial is named ‘Bayard’ and also reads ‘8 Day, Made in France’.
There are bevelled glass panels to the front and sides, with a small bevelled glass panel to the top of the clock.
To the reverse is a hinged door allowing access to the movement.
The clock has a 7 Jewel, 8 day mechanical movement by Duverdrey & Bloquel of France with a serial no. of ’81’.
The movement, rather than using separate keys has an in built winding key and a knob for adjusting the time.

The clock measures 8cm (3 ¼ inches) wide, 6.5cm (2 ½ inches) deep with a height of 11cm (4 ½ inches).
